2024-25 (Vincennes University)

In the 2023–24 season, Akanmu played for Vincennes University in NJCAA Division I, Region 24. He started 32 of 33 games, averaging 9.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per contest. He recorded five double-doubles, highlighted by a 22-point, 11-rebound performance against Lake Land College, and his strong play earned him 2025 NJCAA Division I All-Region 24 honors.

2023-24 (McCook Community College)

Akanmu began his collegiate career at McCook Community College in Nebraska, starting all 32 games. He averaged 11.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and one steal per game, scoring in double figures 23 times. His season-high came in a win over No. 6 Northeastern Junior College, where he posted 30 points, demonstrating his scoring ability and consistency on both ends of the floor.

Personal

Born on January 28, 2003, in Paris, France, Akanmu comes from a close-knit family with a brother, Kenan (19), and 10-year-old twin siblings, Kate and Kelly. Off the court, he enjoys gaming, is a fan of Paris Saint-Germain football, and listens to artists such as Quando Rondo, with “Many Men” by 50 Cent as a favorite song. He looks up to Kobe Bryant and follows a personal routine that includes music by Sia and prayer. Describing himself as “relentless,” Akanmu enters the 2025–26 season aiming to earn All-Conference and All-Defensive honors while helping his team win a championship.
